Benchmark information shall be provided on a separate benchmark plan detailing the location, co-ordinates, level and origin benchmark and provided with the As-Built Information. The following applies when installing or updating a benchmark:
- To provide a datum for permanent levels, standard Council benchmarks shall be supplied free of cost to the Consent Holder's Representative and be located as detailed in Dwg AB-02 Benchmark in K and C. Only Council supplied benchmarks shall be used.
- Where no kerb and channel exists i.e. rural areas, the benchmark shall be placed as detailed in Dwg AB-03 Benchmark in Block.
- Each benchmark shall be levelled to a minimum third order standard. The bench mark must also have a second or third order benchmark as its origin.
- Detail for the origin benchmark must be provided on all As-Built plans.
This work shall be certified by a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor.
Council may instruct that a public benchmark is not required to be installed where it is not deemed necessary to do so. Generally this will be in situations where Council believes the existing benchmark network is adequate and a new benchmark is not required.
