This section looks at the way in which a transportation network is laid out and the elements that contribute to them. Transportation networks are not easily modified, therefore careful consideration shall be given to the street layout, block size, street orientation, level of connectivity and width of the Road Zone or connection. It is essential that the network is well connected and designed to ensure safety, comfort, efficiency, reduced energy use and amenity for a range of users.
Other considerations to be made when designing transportation networks include:

  1. Underground and above-ground network utilities.
  2. Streetscape elements.
  3. Street furniture.
  4. Low impact design methods.
