Council recommends that the standards prescribed in the publication AS/NZS 2865 Safe Working in a Confined Space are used as the preferred standard when undertaking work in a confined space.
New Zealand Occupational Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, recognises this standard as the recommended document for establishing good systems and practices.
Anyone who carries out confined space work shall be familiar with the Standard and shall have undertaken specialist training.
All works in a confined space shall have regard to identifying, assessing, controlling or eliminating any risk.
Before entering any confined space as defined above, the Contractor shall obtain all permits and be knowledgeable and compliant with all Department of Labour requirements.
