CS-6.0 Fill

PreviousNext

Fill materials shall be sourced from areas of cut or from designated borrow areas. If the Contractor wishes to propose materials from alternative sources then he/she shall provide details for the Engineer’s approval. Material types need to be selected, handled and compacted to form zoned fills as shown on the Contract Drawings or as instructed by the Engineer.

The Contractor shall take all precautions and maintain a tidy operation to minimise the presence of any loose excavated materials that could become wet during rain. Considerable drying effort is likely to be required for some materials if they become too wet to meet the required compaction criteria. The Contractor shall also ensure that all fill is free of organic matter or other unsuitable materials.
