The Contractor shall comply with all requirements of compaction standards and testing as specified in the Contract Documents or by the Geo-Professional.
The tests and testing frequency described in the Contract Documents or by the Geo-Professional shall be used to confirm that the placed fill materials meet the required Contract standards, design criteria and parameter values. At any time either before or during the course of construction, the Geo-Professional may direct modifications to the compaction standards, frequencies and test methods defined in the Contract Documents with the objective of ensuring that the design criteria and objectives for particular materials and conditions are achieved.
The defined compaction and test requirements shall relate to the materials expected to be used. Should alternative materials be proposed by the Contractor then he/she shall also propose quality control testing methods and procedures to demonstrate to the Geo-Professional that the necessary design criteria can be achieved.
The tests to confirm Contract requirements shall be undertaken using the specified methods. However, the Geo-Professional may approve more approximate and rapid methods on a day-to-day basis for preliminary assessment. Where an adequate correlation is established between the rapid and fully specified methods, the Geo-Professional may rely on the results of the rapid methods. Where there are discrepancies between the results obtained by rapid and fully specified methods the Geo-Professional shall decide which tests apply. Results obtained by rapid methods shall not be used for final acceptance purposes unless approved by the Geo-Professional.
The locations and levels of all in situ tests shall be recorded within tolerances of 0.2m horizontally and 0.1m vertically.
All testing is to be carried out using an IANZ accredited testing organisation DS-1.13 Companies for Soils and Earthworks Testing, with all equipment calibrated to relevant standards at the required frequency. The proposed testing organisation(s) may be contracted by either the Contractor or the Geo-Professional prior to commencement of work. The Geo-Professional retains the right to request an alternative and/or independent supply agreement for geotechnical testing services. The Contractor is expected to conform to all requirements to allow for the testing laboratory to undertake any tests and locate testing sites.
The Geo-Professional will instruct as to the frequency of testing required.
CS-6.5.1 Fill Test Methods
The Contractor shall comply with all requirements of compaction standards and testing as specified within the Contract Documents or by the Geo-Professional.
Should alternative materials/testing be proposed by the Contractor then he/she shall also propose appropriate quality control testing methods and procedures in order to demonstrate to the Geo-Professional that the design criteria can be achieved.
Such material/testing may not be used unless approved by the Geo-Professional.
